In creating a truly interconnected DeFi ecosystem, bridging between various blockchain networks is indispensable, and this is where Verulink comes in.

In this article, we’ll go through how to bridge assets from Aleo to Ethereum and vice versa using Verulink.

Introduction

Verulink connects Aleo with Ethereum, one of the most widely used blockchain platforms known for its smart contract functionality and vibrant ecosystem. This connection allows users to transfer major assets like ETH, USDC, and USDT seamlessly between the two chains, leveraging the strengths of both platforms.

Let’s get into the step by step guides to bridging assets from Ethereum to Aleo and vice versa.

Prerequisites:

Before you start any transaction, make sure you have the following ready:

  1. Your metamask wallet and your Aleo wallet
  2. A small amount of ETH in the wallets to pay the gas fees

Steps to use Verulink- Transferring ETH/USDC/USDT from Ethereum to Aleo

  1. Connect Your Wallets: Connect to your Ethereum and Aleo networks using your wallet provider (e.g., MetaMask and LeoWallet in this guide).
  2. Initiate the Transaction:
  • On the hero section of the Verulink interface, select the asset you want to send (USDT, USDC, or ETH) from the dropdown menu.
  • Enter the amount and provide your LeoWallet address or connect your LeoWallet.

3. When you Start Transaction, a pop-up will appear. Click “Confirm Transaction” to proceed.

4. Confirm the transaction in your MetaMask wallet when prompted. This is step 2.

5. Transaction Confirmation:

  • When you confirm a transaction on the wallet, only then proof is generated and the transaction is sent. After confirmation, you will receive a transaction confirmation from Ethereum. This will appear as a pop-up in your browser on Etherscan (step 3).
  • And finally, you see that your deposit is in progress.

6. Transfer Validation:

  • While checking the Transfer Log, you see that multi-signature verification is required for the transfer to be validated. This involves signatures from attestors and may take up to 24 hours for security purposes. Monitor the progress in the Transfer Log or the transaction history of your connected wallet.

7. Minting on Aleo:

  • Once all attestors have validated the transfer, it will be marked as “Ready to Mint.”
  • Click “Ready to Mint” on your destination wallet to generate a proof locally.

8. Transaction Confirmation: It needs confirmation from the wallet for the transaction.

Note: Leo Wallet currently requires you to open its extension to get feedback on the minting process. Refresh the transaction history button to check the status of your transaction.

9. Complete the Minting Process:

  • The minting process usually takes 1 to 2 minutes. After it’s completed, you will receive your tokens.

10. View Your Transaction:

  • Check the successful transaction on the Aleo Explorer.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully bridged your assets from Ethereum to Aleo Blockchain using Verulink.

Similarly, we can send assets from Aleo to Ethereum using Verulink. The process mirrors the steps outlined for Ethereum to Aleo transfers, with a few key differences. When transferring from Aleo, Verulink ensures that the corresponding assets are burned on the Aleo side before being minted on Ethereum, ensuring a secure and seamless cross-chain experience. Below, we outline the steps for completing an Aleo-to-Ethereum transfer.

Steps to Use Verulink for Transferring ETH from Aleo to Ethereum

  1. Connect Your Wallets:
  • Connect to your Aleo and Ethereum networks using your wallet provider (e.g., LeoWallet and MetaMask).

2. Initiate the Transaction:

  • On the Verulink interface, select “ETH” from the dropdown menu.
  • Enter the amount of ETH you want to send from Aleo to Ethereum.
  • Provide your Ethereum wallet address or connect your MetaMask wallet.

3. Confirm the Transaction:

  • A pop-up will appear. Click “Confirm Transaction” to proceed.
  • Confirm the transaction in your LeoWallet. This is step 2.

4. Transaction Confirmation:

  • After confirmation, Verulink will burn the corresponding amount of ETH on the Aleo blockchain.
  • You will receive a confirmation pop-up for the transaction burn on Aleo, and the transaction can be initiated on Ethereum.

5. Transfer Validation:

  • Check the Transfer Log to see if multi-signature verification is required. This involves signatures from five attestors and may take up to 24 hours for security purposes.
  • Monitor the progress via the Transfer Log or through the activity section of your connected wallet.

6. Minting on Ethereum:

  • Once all attestors have validated the transfer, it will be marked as “Ready to Mint.”
  • Click “Ready to Mint” on your destination wallet and mint the corresponding ETH on Ethereum.

7. Complete the Minting Process:

  • The minting process usually takes 1 to 2 minutes. Once completed, you will receive your ETH on Ethereum.

8. View Your Transaction:

  • Check the successful transaction on Sepolia Etherscan.io.

Here we go, these are the exact steps you can follow to bridge assets back and forth from Aleo and Ethereum.
